Professional Gambling: How to Handle Distractions
A professional gambler who gambles over the Internet has one distinct advantage over other gamblers who go to live casinos: NO DISTRACTIONS.
If you are an aspiring professional gambler and you want to "do the real thing" in a live casino, you better prepare yourself for the temptations and distractions that await you. Professional gamblers over time have learned to overcome these distractions. In this article, we will tell you what they are, and how to avoid them.
CASINO DISTRACTIONS
In a live casino, distractions come in various forms as noise, drink, attractive persons, idle conversation, attitudes of other players, etc. The atmosphere is quite intoxicating (literally and figuratively) and addictive. That is what the casino wants. The casino wants the professional gambler to feel that playing and being a part of this really cool place is less important than winning.
WOMEN? These are common distractions. Theoretically, both men and women, and gays, bisexuals and lesbians can be distracted by attractive people in the casino. Often, however, it is men who crave attention that fall victims to women in casinos most easily. Women gamblers typically are not that easily distracted though we cannot be sure of women who find scantily clad waitresses attractive! Any case, be on your guard. The professional gambler goes to a casino to make money, period.
DRINKS. Another dsitraction to watch out for is alcohol. Do not drink while playing at the tables. If you drink, do so very rarely. Alcohol will affect your judgment and consequently, your play. There will be plenty of time to drink later - when you cash in and go home with your earnings.
CASINO STAFF. The professional gambler must also deal with casino staff. These folks are nice to you for as long as you lose. That's their job: to keep you happy and grinning while you're losing. Don't fall for it. Stay focused on your play.
HOW TO CONDUCT YOURSELF IN A CASINO
Casinos love amateur and losing gamblers. Act like one. Play dumb. Don't act like a pro. If you can, hide some of your chips when nobody is looking. You do NOT want to make it obvious that you aren't falling for the casino gimmicks. Doing so would invite trouble as the casino personnel would be keeping an eye on you, and doing things to distract you. Casinos hate big winners that they can't fool.
Be nice to the casino staff, the dealer and your fellow players. Tip the dealer. It's good practice. Don't be too quiet or serious. Smile and talk lightly.
Finally, do not cash your chips immediately after a session. That is, if you win in the evening, cash them in the next day when the casino staff has changed. You don't want to be recognized as a winner.
The professional gambler must learn how to act in a live casino. The casino is a dangerous place if you don't know what you're up against. After all, you are going there to take away its money. So you are essentially enemies. Keep your eyes open and your mind alert. Always.
